Christmas Craft: Poinsettia Decorative Throw Pillow

I love sprucing up my living room for the holidays. I have slowly been collecting various Christmas items for my house, and have really loved using them. Some items, I love, but by the time I see it online, it’s no longer in store. This is pillow one such example. I loved it when I saw it, but of course, it was no longer available by the time I went back for it. It looked simple enough, so I decided to re-create it, and for much less than the original pillow cost! I picked up all of my supplies at my local Walmart store!

What you need:

Mainstays Microfiber Twill Throw Pillow in Red Sedona for just $4.96

Cream Felt 1/2 yard per pillow at $3.97 per yard

Matching, or complimenting thread

Hem Tape

Fabric Glue

Jingle bells

Sewing Machine

Pattern

How you make it:

First, cut out 5 of large leaves, and 10 each of the medium and small leaves.

Use Fabric glue to stick two small leaves together, and allow to dry. Continue with the rest of the small leaves. Do the same with the medium sized leaves. Once the glue has dried, use the thread to stitch up the center of each of the leaves to add some texture to the leaves.

Cut a 2 in circle from the felt and stitch it to the center of the pillow.

Use a small piece of the hem tape to attach the large leaves/petals to the pillow around the center circle. Hand stitch the center down to the pillow.

Repeat with the medium and then small leaves.

Gather up the jingle bells and stitch them to the center of the pillow… and voila! All done!

Easy to make, and lovely to enjoy for several years to come!

Check out this YouTube video for a quick tutorial on how to make it!

If you make this, I would love to see it!
