Father's Day DIY- Etched Monogrammed Beer Glass

Year after year, Father’s Day brings up the dilemma… What can we get Dad that he doesn’t have already? Or what can we get him that he can really use? I mean, seriously… Does Dad really need another tie??

Yeah… I didn’t think so either…

This year, we are doing something that is fun, and something that my hubby will totally love. We are making him etched beer glasses. They’re not difficult to make at all, in fact, they are probably some of the easiest crafts I’ve ever done! You can get one glass done in less than a few minutes, depending on how intricate you want to make them. For these, we went very simple.

Here are all the items that you need:

1. Glass Etching Stencils

2. Glass Etching Cream

3. Drinkware

4. Paintbrush

You should probably use some gloves as well… We didn’t do any major work, so I didn’t use any, but it’s probably a good idea to use some anyway.

Once you’ve gathered all of your supplies, the fun can begin!

1. Place your stencils on the glass wherever you want them!

2. Use the paintbrush to apply the glass etching cream onto the stencils. You’ll want to use a pretty thick layer. Just make sure that it doesn’t run off of the stencils where you don’t want it.

3. Set the time for 60 seconds, and rinse off the etching cream.

4. Place any additional stencils onto the glass and repeat steps 2 & 3.

5. Carefully peel away the stencils and reveal your creation!

These were extremely simple, mostly because the only other stencils I could find were flowery, and we all know that those will not work for Dad. This gift idea is very inexpensive, and easy to make. This one glass took me less than 5 minutes from start to finish and would be great if made as a set, or included in a little gift “kit” including Dad’s favorite beverage, or even some “beer themed” snack ideas like those that Jenn at Frugal Upstate made for her Father’s Day gift idea!

So, tell me, what does Dad want for Father’s Day this year? Would you make these?
