DIY- Mardi Gras Yarn Wrapped Wreath

It’s Mardi Gras Time, and if you’re looking for a really neat decoration for your front door, or anywhere in your home, you’ve got to check out this wreath that I made! It’s very easy to make, and cost me around $20 to make, with most of my supplies coming from my local Walmart store! I’ve seen similar wreaths sell for upwards of $50 online! Here’s all you need and how you make it below.

What you need:

Supplies

How you make it:

1. Start by making the flowers. I cut the sheets of felt into several small squares varying in size from 2×2″ to 4×4″. I then trimmed each square into a circle, and then cut each circle into a spiral.

To make the flower, take the center of the spiral and start to roll inward. I add a dab of glue to keep it from unrolling. Continue to roll the felt spiral and add a dab of glue to secure it! It’ll look like a rose!

2. Next, wrap the foam wreath form in the three yarns. Start each color and end with a dab of glue to hold it in place. I wrapped it once in each color, and then went over it again with each color, making sure to fill in any gaps so the foam didn’t show through.

3. It’s time to glue on the felt flowers! This is up to you.. You can bunch them up in one area, or spread them around the wreath. It’s totally your preference. I kept them all in one area so I could add the mask to the other side…

4. Speaking of the mask… We used a black one since we had the black felt flowers. The two pack from Walmart has a black mask and a white mask. You can use either! First we glued on some purple feathers where we knew the side of the mask was going to sit. Just to be safe, and hold them in place, I tied them on with a strand of yarn. I then glued the mask on to the wreath, lining up the edge with the feathers. I wanted to use some of the extra felt flowers, so I glued them on where the feathers met the mask. On the opposite side, I secured on some beads!

5. I hung a couple of bead strands from the flowers on the top to add just a little bit more bling. That’s it! This will hang on my front door during Mardi Gras Week!
