Join the Citrus Celebration!

I love love love citrus fruits for so many reasons. During the month of January, in Walmart stores, they are having a “Citrus Celebration” showcasing their great variety of citrus fruits and the freshness and quality of their fruits in the stores. I was so excited when I saw all the fruits they had in stock! I couldn’t help but buy a little of just about everything, and even more excited to share a recipe with you, made from some of these citrus fruits!

CitrusFruit

There is a great selection of various citrus fruits including:

  • Moro Orange
  • Pummelo
  • Minneaola Tangelo
  • Navel Orange
  • Cara Cara Navel Orange
  • Clementines
  • Grapefruit
  • Blood Orange
  • Persian Limes

and more! Yum! I’m loving it!

The thing I love most about citrus fruits is that every part of them is usable, and they are FULL of vitamins. There are so many ways that you can use citrus fruits, like making glazes for cooking, cleaning out a stainless steel sink, or even to cure dry skin! The possibilities are almost endless!

So I was asked to create a recipe using some of these delicious citrus fruits, and I couldn’t help but make a yummy “adult beverage”! With all of these awesome citrus fruits, there had to be something that I could put together that would remind me of Summer during our Winter months.

CitrusSunrise

I’ll call it….

Citrus Sunrise

To make one drink, you will need (adjust if you’re making for more):

  • 3 ozs Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
  • 2 ozs Blood (Moro) Orange Juice
  • 2 ozs Bacardi Rum
  • 1 Meyer Lemon, cut into slices
  • Handful of Pomegranate Arils

First wash all of your citrus fruit!

Slice your your grapefruit and blood oranges in half and juice them. Set aside.

Add a small amount of ice to your glass, Pour 2 ozs Blood Orange juice into a tall glass. Add 3 ozs  Ruby Red Grapefruit juice, and then 2 ozs Bacardi Rum.

I then cut the Meyer Lemon into thin slices and put them into the drink, along with a handful of Pomegranate Arils.

It’s really crisp, refreshing, and delicious! I can totally imagine myself sipping on this while chilling in the sun this Summer!

Check out your local Walmart store and see what citrus fruits they have in the produce section! If you make any recipes that you’d like to share, feel free to post them in the comments below!
