DIY- Star Trimmed Basket

This basket is perfect for adding a little pizzazz to your picnic table for your Independence Day Barbecue! It’s super easy to make, and looks great!

Things you’ll need:

A Basket. We found ours for 25¢ at a thrift store.

Wooden Pre Cut Stars- $2.24 at Walmart

Acrylic Paints in Red White and Blue- 97¢ each at Walmart

Elmers Craft Bond Foam Mounting Tape or Hot Glue Gun

Foam Paint Brushes

How to make this project:

Paint the basket white using the acrylic paint and the foam paint brush.

Paint with the basket weave until covered in desired color. You can paint it thicker for a very white look, or thinner for a more whitewashed look. Allow paint to dry.

Paint half of the stars Red and the other half Blue, and allow paint to dry.

Attach the stars to the edge of the basket using the Elmer’s Craft Bond Foam Mounting Tape, or a hot glue gun.

Alternate sizes and colors, and overlay smaller stars on to larger stars.

We used ours for napkins, but you can use yours for anything! Fill with glitter streamers, foam cubes and artificial flowers, or “fireworks” for use as a centerpiece..

If you make this project, I’d love to see it! Feel free to post a link in the comments!!
