Review: Electrolux Oxygen Ultra

I have had allergies since I was a kid, and they are not fun. Every change of the season brings some sort of sneezing, coughing, stuffy or runny nose. I truly believe that tissue companies and allergy medication companies should offer some type of frequent buyer card the way I have to keep up with it to keep from going into complete nose blockage.

Lately, my allergies have been really horrible. The weather here has been so strange, and I don’t think the plants know what to do with the warm, cold, warm again temps. I’ve been sneezing, coughing, had a runny nose that won’t stop… It’s just been miserable!

I was asked if I wanted to try out the Electrolux Oxygen Ultra in our home, and I figured it wouldn’t be a bad idea. I’ve never tried the room air filter/purifiers, so I didn’t know what to expect. I was actually surprised.

From Amazon:

“Get tough on dust and even tougher on odors with the Electrolux Oxygen Ultra Air Cleaner. Its PlasmaWave technology uses positive and negative ions to remove odor-causing airborne pollutants. Powerful hydroxyls bond with and neutralize the remaining pollutants. A potent sensor detects foul odors and adjusts the fan speed to clear the air quickly. CADR-rated for rooms up to 405 square feet, making it perfect for living rooms and offices. The Oxygen Ultra is also extremely quiet, making it ideal for bedrooms too. Includes 1 HEPA filter and 4 carbon filters. A light indicates when the HEPA filter needs to be replaced. For optimum performance, change it once a year and the carbon filter every 3 months. The Oxygen Ultra is Energy Star-rated and costs you only pennies a day to operate in auto mode. Also includes a handy remote control that lets you control the air speed from anywhere in the room. The remote fits perfectly flush on top of the Oxygen Ultra so you won’t lose it. 5-year limited warranty.”

That description is actually quite true. The Electrolux Oxygen Ultra is very quiet. We’ve kept it in our Living Room, since we spend most of our time in that room, and haven’t had to turn up the volume on the TV at all. Really! I have truly felt like it’s kept the air cleaner. I haven’t had to dust the living room as often, and I’m not sneezing so badly. I have it set to “auto” which means that when the air is yuckier (yes that’s an official term), it kicks into high gear to filter the air. It works too. When we’ve been cooking and getting a little “flavor” in the air, the Electrolux Oxygen Ultra recognizes it, and kicks it up a bit.

After a month or so of using the Electrolux Oxygen Ultra, I can see how yucky the filter is. The dust that’s missing from my furniture most likely is the dust that’s trapped in that filter….  I wonder what it would’ve been like without it running.

If you have allergies, or are just concerned about the air quality in your house, It’s worth checking out!
