Exciting News!

Football Season Is ON!!!

Football season is officially underway! We’ve been enjoying watching all of the games on TV… It’s pretty much one BBQ after another right now!!! One weekend it’s chicken, another it’s Tri-Tip, and another weekend is Hubby’s Famous Ribs! BBQ’s can’t be all meat and no snacks though! I mean, what would you do while waiting for the good stuff to come off the grill? Surely, there’s something good around when you have the munchies!!!

We love chips and dips of all sorts! We usually try to be healthy when it comes to snacks, but there’s some awesome ways to make some really great tasting dips and still keep an eye on what you eat!!!

Chips: We typically buy the Baked Tostitos Scoops. They’re a great priced chip, and they’re just a bit on the healthier side than the regular ones. The bowl like shape is perfect for scooping up the dip and not having it fall back into the bowl!

Dip: Well, there’s so many different flavors..

Carolina Smoked Salsa:

Smoke, or grill:  1 bulb of garlic, 2 jalapeños, 4 tomatoes, and 1 red onion. Smoke or grill everything until the jalapeños start to wrinkle.

Chop everything up and mix in a bowl. You can use a blender, but that tends to make things too watery. I like chunky salsa. Chop up a bunch of cilantro and mix in. Salt & pepper to taste! It’s up to you if you want to de-seed the jalapeños.  Taking the seeds out before mixing everything in makes the salsa less spicy.

Good for you Hummus:

1 or 2 Cans of Chickpeas/Garbanzo Beans. Anything you want to make it taste like!

Hummus is sooooo easy, and a super good for you dip! All you need to do is put the Chickpeas in a blender and blend until it’s mushy. Add in Garlic, Lemon, Salt & Pepper for a yummy Garlic Hummus. Add in Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Salt, Pepper, Lemon, and pinch of chili powder for a great Pepper Hummus. Whatever your tastes, add in a little bit to the Chichpeas, and you have a great Hummus dip!

Cheesy Chili Dip:

You can use canned Chili, but we make our own! Use Kidney Beans, Black Beans, Steak, Chili seasoning… let it cook in a crock pot till it’s done! Mix in Cream Cheese, or Cheddar Cheese, depending on which you like better!

Any of these great dips will make snacking easy while you’re waiting for the main foods to come off the grill.

We have a 55 Gallon Drum Smoker here, so most of our food at party time is smoked. Check out Hubby’s Famous Baby Back Ribs, or our Bacon Wrapped Sausage Roll!
