Recipe Challenge: Cheese Wontons & Tofu Wontons

It’s that time again! We received a new box full of ingredients that we had to come up with a recipe for. This box contained some new pasta, different salad dressings, sweet chili sauce, and Skippy P.B. Pretzel Bites.

I thought… I used the pasta and dressing last time to make a great pasta salad… We really liked theSkippy P.B. Pretzel Bites, as a snack, but I couldn’t think of an actual recipe to use them in…. I LOVE Sweet Chili Sauce, and we were having a Chicken Stir Fry dinner… Why not make some appetizers and use the Sweet Chili Sauce as a dipping sauce for them? I know… Nothing new… but YUMMY!

I headed out to my local Walmart store, and picked up some supplies and started planning. I have one child that likes cheese and one that doesn’t… so this was going to be fun.. and THEY are going to make them, while I take care of frying them!

What you need:

  • Egg Roll Wrappers
  • Wonton Wrappers
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Extra Firm Tofu
  • Sweet Chili Sauce

How you make them:

Cut your cheese into 1/4 in cubes

Place one cube in the center of a Wonton Wrapper

Dip your finger tip into a small dish of water, and rub along the edges of the wrapper.

Connect the wet edges and pinch closed, making sure nothing is left open.

Fry in oil at 350•F until golden brown and place on a paper towel to cool.

Do the same with the tofu!

Place on a dish and serve with a dipping sauce bowl of Sweet Chili Sauce.

YUM!

This worked out great! The kids had a lot of fun putting their wontons together, and eventually got sidetracked by making other things with them too… but that’s something for a whole other blog post.

Seeing what was in my box, what would you have put together?
