DIY Back to School Crafts with Duck Tape

Duck tape is fun for everyone. There’s so many things you can do with it.. Make wallets, bracelets, and purses. I’ve even seen people make clothing and prom outfits out of it. How cool is that!?!?!

Well, my idea isn’t that involved, but it has become one of my girls’ favorite back to school crafts. We cover their pocket folders with Duck Tape. It’s really easy to do, and they get to choose patterns so that their folders don’t look like anyone else’s in their class. Not to mention, that covering the cheap 39¢ folders in Duck Tape makes them super durable, to the point that they can last a whole year without tearing up!

What you need:

A few plain pocket folders.

Your choice of Duck Tape- We chose the Scotties!

Scissors.

THAT IS ALL!

It only takes a few minutes for each one… Here’s how you make it!

1. Open up the folder, outside up.

2. Start on one end, covering with strips of tape.

3. Keep going!

4. Cover the entire outside of the folder.

5. Flip over the folder.

6. Start tucking over the flaps of tape and taping them to the inside.

7. Cut the corners so the tape will lay flat.

8. Cut some lengths of tape in half to make small strips.

9. Use the strips to cover the ragged edges that you folded over.

10. Continue covering all ragged edges and you are done!

If your folder needs to go into a binder, take a single hold punch and punch out the Duck Tape where the folder’s holes are. Otherwise, you can use a small spot of Duck Tape to cover the holes on the inside so that they won’t stick to any papers you put in them.

You can mix and match tape designs, coordinate or contrast… Have fun with it! My girls do every year!

Duck Tape is available in all kinds of designs and colors at your local Walmart stores or online at Walmart.com!

Be sure to share your Duck Tape creations with me! I’d love to see them!
