DIY Handmade Hammered Cross Bracelet

I love to make jewelry. I used to make cute little necklaces as a child, and kept up the hobby well into my adulthood. It’s been a while since I actually had the time to sit down and make some things, and I figured this was a great time to make some things and show them off.

I live in a somewhat small town. I don’t have the same shops that I used to have access to when we lived in a big city. I know I could order online, but then I have to wait for shipping… I hate waiting.

I recently saw a really cute bracelet online that I knew I could make for less if I could just find the pieces locally. I happened to be at my Walmart store, doing a little bit of grocery shopping, so I headed over to the craft section just to see what I could find… I was actually pretty surprised at how many really cute things I found! Here’s what I came up with for just under $15, using some items I already have in a kit at home.

SuppliesFromWalmart

I found the Hammered Cross Chain connectors, Beautiful blue and white glass beads, Silver beading wire, and toggle at Walmart. I already had my crimp beads and crimp bead covers here at home, as well as all of my tools.

First thing I did was cut two lengths of silver beading wire about 6 inches long.

Secure one wire to each side of the Cross connector using your crimping beads, and crimping pliers. I also used wire protectors to add a little bit of extra strength to the connection points.

TwoWires

Once you have your two wires connected to the Cross, you can start stringing your beads. It took me a couple of tries to get the length right, but once you do, make each side with the same amount of beads.

Three of the big beads made the bracelet too big for me, so I ended up removing one on each side, and it fit perfectly.

Once you have your sizing correct, secure your toggles to the ends with your crimp beads and crimping pliers.

Finished BraceletThis is my completed bracelet. I love the blue beads. They can go with just about anything, including a cute pair of jeans! I have some more projects that I’m going to get done over the next few weeks… I’ll share them with you as I make them!

It’s actually really quick and easy to make, and all of this was less than $15! Try buying something like this at a department store!
