Winter Crafts- 3D Other Awesome Snowflake Crafts

For many people, Winter means snow. I wish we had snow here, but it’s rare. I love looking at snowflakes though, and there are so many ways to make pretty snowflakes!

Here are a couple of really cute ways to make snowflakes to decorate your home!

3D Paper Snowflake Flower:

What you will need:

  • 2 sheets of Letter sized paper
  • scissors
  • glue

How to make it:

  1. Fold the sheets of paper diagonally to make a square
  2. Cut off the excess paper.
  3. Keeping the squares folded diagonally, fold them in half  and then in half one more time making a smaller triangle.
  4. Cut a half petal shape with your scissors. Repeat to other sheet of paper.
  5. Make two more cuts inside each petal about equal distance from each other stopping just short of the crease in the center. Repeat to other sheet of paper
  6. Open up both sheets of paper to see the resulting flowers.
  7. Take the middle pieces of each petal, fold them inward to the center and glue the tips to the center of the flower.
  8. To make a two sided flower, you can do the same and glue them back to back. This would be great to hang up in a room!
  9. To make a flat sided flower to put up on a wall, place the first flower on top of the flat flower. Take the middle sections of the back sheet and fold them towards the center in between the petals. Glue them down and you are set!

Another really fun craft we made were these big craft stick snowflakes! These are awesome for decorating your walls! You can paint them any color to go with your home decor! Of course, we did white and added some “ice” to the sticks!

Giant Craft Stick Snowflakes:

What you will need:

  • craft sticks
  • hot glue gun and glue
  • fishing line or other ribbon to hang your snowflakes
  • clear cellophane tape
  • white paint (or color of your choice)
  • epsom salts
  • adhesive spray
  • drop cloth or newspaper

How to make it:

  1. Start by drawing out your pattern on a sheet of paper. We’re going to copy that with our craft sticks!
  2. To match our design, we started with gluing six craft sticks in an asterisk shape. You can use a protractor to make sure your angles are even, but we just did it by sight.
  3. We then added the points to make a star.
  4. Finally, depending on the pattern, add the final craft sticks to complete the snowflake.
  5. Once the snowflake was done, we spray painted it white and waited for it to dry.
  6. Next, we used our adhesive spray in sections, and sprinkled our snowflake with epsom salts.
  7. Once dry, you can add some string, ribbon or fishing line to hang it up on our wall!

How cute is that!?!?!

My final Winter craft is these really *cool* candles!

Make “Snow Covered” jar candles

What you will need:

  • Jar Candle
  • White Paint or primer
  • Epsom salt
  • Spray adhesive
  • Newspaper or drop cloth

How to make it:

  1. Cover your entire work area in newspaper or drop cloth.
  2. Take the lid off of your jar candle. Very carefully, remove the label and clean the jar completely.
  3. Spray a coat of white paint/primer on the glass jar.
  4. Once they are dry take out the Epsom Salt and pour it out on your work surface.
  5. Spray the jar with some spray adhesive.
  6. Roll the tacky jar in the Epsom salt.
  7. You can do this to various sizes of jarred candles, or candle holders and put them together for a beautiful Winter Display!

If you decide to make any of these, I’d love to see how you do!!! Feel free to show off pics in the comments!!!
