Review: Zippo Emergency Fire Starter

Zippo recently sent us their Emergency Fire Starter Kit and a spare set of Waxed Tinder Sticks to try out. I had no idea this even existed. I always thought that if you needed to start a fire, you’d have to keep matches in a plastic bag, or just have to keep rubbing sticks together like in the TV shows! This was really pretty cool! It made starting a fire quick and easy!

We took these over to our friends’ house for some s’mores bonfire fun! Typically we start fires with huge wads of newspaper, and a clicky lighter. Sometimes it works, sometimes it takes a few tries. It all depends on how long the paper burns, and sometimes it’s not long enough to catch the wood on fire.

The Zippo Emergency Fire Starter was easy to use.

The directions:

1. Take a tinder stick out of the box, and fluff the non waxed cotton end.

2. Rotate the spark wheel in the direction indicated (There’s an arrow on the wheel)

3. Hold the cotton close to the sparks and continue turning the wheel until the spark catches the cotton on fire.

4. Place the tinder stick in the wood.

That’s it!

My husband has already claimed this item for his hunting emergency pack! Ha ha..
