DIY Craft: Add some Bling to Your Halloween!

I’ve been horrible at decorating my house for holidays, especially for Halloween. Last year, when we bought our first house, I finally started buying decorations, and this year, I’m even making a few. This one is one of my favorites!

I needed something really cute to go on my mantle, and I saw something similar for sale at a local store for nearly $30. I knew I could make them myself, for less,  with a little bit of work and some things from my local Walmart Craft section.

I started off with 3 Foam Pumpkins for $4.97 each. In the paint section, I grabbed some Krylon indoor/outdoor spray paint in black gloss. Over in the craft section, I found some Cell Phone Bling, peel and stick clear acrylic jewels only for 97¢ each. I needed three of those!

First thing is to spray paint these pumpkins. It took me several coats, so be prepared! You need to let the paint dry at least 30 minutes in between coats for the best results.

Once the pumpkins were dry, I started cutting the sheets of Cell Phone Bling into single strips of jewels. This would make it a little easier to create the letters on the pumpkins.

On this one, I started making the “O”. I decided where the top center was going to be and put a small strip of jewels there to start the letter.

I went around making the outline of the “O” with the thin lines of stones. Once I had it how I wanted it, the rest was easy.

I put a second row of jewels on the inside of the first row to make it really stand out!

Continue on making all of the letters in the same way!!!

Below is the completed product! I now have “BOO” on my mantle!

There are a couple of ways you can make the letters. I did try glitter at first,  but the results weren’t the best. It had been so humid here that the paint didn’t dry completely, and glitter stuck everywhere instead of just on the glue. These sticky jewels worked out awesome!

If any of you decide to try to make this craft, I’d love to see it! Please feel free to post a link to your photo in the comments below!!!
