Fighting Hunger Together with Walmart

In November of 2010, Walmart did something so cool, and I got to be a part of it. Walmart is made huge strides to fight hunger across the nation. Walmart had committed $2 Billion towards those efforts and they donated more than 1.1 billion pounds of food, valued at $1.75 Billion. They also awarded grants totaling $250 Million to support national, state and local hunger relief organizations, and so much more.

This year, Walmart’s commitment to fight hunger across the nations is stronger than ever!

This Spring, Walmart, alongside four of the most recognizable food brands in America- ConAgra, General Mills, Kellogg’s, and Kraft- is fighting hunger with a goal to help its customers give more than 42 million meals to local food banks.  The program will run in all US Walmart stores from April 9-30, and will give customers the opportunity to help fight hunger in their communities.

While you’re shopping, look for select products that are labeled with the Fighting Hunger sticker! By purchasing these products, and entering the codes included in the packaging, on line, customers can give back to hunger-fighting nonprofits.

Walmart is also asking all of their Facebook Fans to join in the fight against hunger! Like last time, Walmart has designated 200 communities in the US, where unemployment rates are the highest*, and Walmart is encouraging everyone to vote for your community! Walmart will donate $2Million to fight hunger in the communities with the highest number of votes!

*Walmart used a Department of Labor Unemployment List to designate the 200 communities on their voting list.

Hunger affects millions of Americans every day. In turn, every organization and every person, has a responsibility to help raise awareness of this issue, and work together to solve it. Join in the fight agains hunger now!

I am a participant in the Walmart Moms program. Walmart provided me with  compensation for my time and efforts on this post. Participation in this program is voluntary. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
