Planning ahead! Safe Halloween- Sacramento

Old Sacramento- Spookomotive Train:

October 11-12, 18-19, 25-26

Halloween-themed “Spookomotive” trains decorated for the season depart on-the-hour 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the Central Pacific Railroad Freight Depot in Old Sacramento. Regular ticket prices apply. Join our “skeleton crew” for a fun and whimsical 40-minute, 6-mile roundtrip ride along the Sacramento River! Throughout Old Sacramento, special Fall Harvest Days activities will be in full swing these three weekends, with streets decorated for the occasion. Fairy Tale Town:

Friday – Sunday, October 24- 26, 2008, 5-9 p.m.
Don’t miss this amazing Halloween celebration at Fairytale Town! It’s one very special weekend, with three nights of tasty treats and family fun. Visit 17 different candy stations, watch live puppet shows throughout the evening, and enjoy Halloween fun.

Please note: Fairytale Town will be closing early this day in preparation for the event. Gates will close at 2 p.m. and the park will close at 3 p.m.

Safetyville USA

October 25 11am-4pm

Safetyville USA, a program of the Safety Center Incorporated, will present its 18th AnnualHalloween Haunt on Saturday, October 25th from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm at Safetyville USA, 3909 Bradshaw Road. Admission is $5.00 per person (children 2 and under are free). Admission price includes 5 tickets good for food, drink or games. The miniature village takes on a harvest festival theme and provides activities and fun for the entire family in a SAFE ENVIRONMENT.

Over 2,500 people are expected to join in the festivities hosted by guest celebrities from News10 and Mix 96. Activities for the day include performances by magician Trevor Wyatt and other stage shows and demonstrations. There will also be music, games, food, prizes, a fortune-teller, face painters, raffles and much more. Participants may have the opportunity to meet Dinger, the River Cats’ mascot, as well as other costumed characters. Kids are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costume and take part in the Costume Parade.

The first Halloween Haunt was produced in 1991 as a safe alternative to trick-or-treating.  Since then, the event has grown tremendously in size and popularity. Halloween Haunt is a great family event that offers fun and entertainment for all ages.  Proceeds benefit Safetyville USA, a private, not-for-profit children’s safety training center.  For more information call (916) 366-7233 ext. 202.

Sacramento Zoo:

Friday, October 31 – 4:30pm to 8pm

Boo at the Zoo
Bring the family to the Zoo for a spook-tacular good time.  Play some ghoulish games, make some creepy crafts and of course, trick or treat around the lake.  It’s a safe and fun Halloween at the Sacramento Zoo. Last tickets sold at 7:30 pm. Call (916) 808-5888 for more information.  Zoo closes early at 1:30 pm.

Trick or Treat Night at IKEA

Looking for a safe place to bring your children on Halloween? Bring them to IKEA West Sacramento on Halloween for a safe and fun night of trick or treating. Stroll throughout the store and stop at various “Scary Playhouses” along the way for treats for your little goblins and ghouls.
