#mamavation Monday- New Year Edition

Ok… so this is my second post for #mamavation Monday… here’s where I’m at… I officially… and I do mean O-FFI-CI-ALLY registered to be one of the next #mamavation moms. You can view my video and see how you can help me out here.

Anywho… so, last week was the final week of 2009 and the first few days of 2010. That means that it was a great time to go out with a bang and ring in the new year head on… Well.. I sorta did I guess.
2009 ended with my 31st birthday. I took a day to recharge myself. I went to the spa and enjoyed some “me” time… A very important thing for all moms to do, not just to feel good physically, but also mentally. If you don’t relax your mind once in a while, stress will overcome you, and you’ll feel too overwhelmed to complete your goals.

As far as dieting goes… yeah.. well, that was a little more difficult… but only on the 31st! Hubby had set up the smoker, and made me some baby back ribs, and his “famous” jalapeño poppers. Before you ask. They were wrapped in bacon.. so really not that great for us.. LOL. but oh so good… I did my best. Really I did. Dinner time came around and instead of eating a bunch of ribs and poppers, I limited myself. I had more salad and veggies than anything else. I think I did good despite the temptations I had laid out in front of me.

January 1st brought a much different idea of eating. For breakfast, I didn’t have the pancakes. I stuck with the eggs, that my hubby had filled with veggies. YUM! Really! Unhealthy snacks have been taken out. I have made some home made salsa, and have used that as a healthier snack than grabbing Goldfish, or Fruit Snacks that are full of sugar. Water is going to become (once again) my main staple. I used to look around for anything else BUT water to drink, but I think it’s time that I revive my SodaStream and start making “bubbly water” as my girls so affectionately call it, when I want something besides plain water. Adding a squeeze of lemon, lime or orange should fix that easily.

I’m vowing to be more active as well. For Christmas, hubby bought me some new games for the Wii that get me up and moving. My girls have promised to tell me every morning right after breakfast, that it’s time to exercise. See.. My motivaTIONS are now becoming my motivaTORS! They love to exercise with me… so hey.. why not use that to get me going? AND The more games they want to play.. the more games I’m going to end up playing.. thus burning even more calories…

Well, this is just the beginning of the new year for me. I have a lot of #Mamavation Mondays to come.. 51 more to be exact.. Hopefully each one will bring updates of lost weight, healthier eating and even helping out others to become more fit in 2010!

  1. This is great to read that your family are in on motivating you! They sound like great in-house support. Honestly you sound like you did well on the 31st. In the face of ribs and poppers (which are reality) you ate a lot salad and had a little bit of what your hubby made. These are the real life scenarios you will need to navigate and having a rib won’t kill you as long as you do load up on those filling veggies in the process. Good job. Have a great week and 2010!
