Mommy Brain Reports on- Baby Signs- A Giveaway

I had heard of these Baby Signs when I was pregnant, and I was super skeptical when we first heard about it, but we went to the Baby Expo in Sacramento, and I saw a set of boy twins watching the TV, and “talking” to each other in the signs! I was convinced that I had to do it! We ended up buying a kit that they had with a DVD and books, and a quick reference chart. I read and practiced like crazy while I was waiting for my girls to come out!

When my girls were first learning to communicate… we started teaching them Baby Signs. We never got through the entire gamut of signs, but we taught them the ones we thought would be the most beneficial. “Eat”, “Sleep”, “more”, and a few others. It took a few times, but you know what?!?! They actually got it! It really did help keep them from throwing too many fits! They told US when they were hungry, or thirsty, and what they wanted to eat or drink. They told US when they needed a new diaper. It was amazing.

Now I want to share the awesomeness… I am giving away 2 books… Baby Signs and Baby Minds a $29.95 value.

  1. This isn’t an entry, since my husband and I both know signs and are teaching them to our baby and I’d rather someone else got the book. Just wanted to say, it really does work. Also…I recomend the Signing Time videos (which I find helpful since I can actually see the signs being used…and my kids love them!)

  2. I would love to win this book. I would love to have instruction on how to teach signing and maybe I will learn it in the process.

  3. What an amazing prize! We could definitely use these books! Thanks for hosting this giveaway!
I am hosting a giveaway, too! I hope you will check it out.

  4. thanks for joining my giveaway… I would love to join this one but my little one is not so little anymore… but I would refer it to people I know who are expecting. 🙂 great giveaway

  5. I have a 21 month old and a 6 month old. Thanks to friends who have done baby signs I’ve been able to work with my kids, without the books. I have been impatiently waiting to get the sign books to teach my kids more signs.

    Wonderful give away.

  6. I’d love to be able to win this for my 17 month old Gabriel, he has taken an interest to the show Signing Times and this would help me to better understand sign for our upcoming baby girl due in September as well!

  7. I have my first grandchild on the way. My daughter in law will be living with us when the baby is born and up until the baby is about 7 months old as we wait for my son to return home from his Army tour in Iraq. I’d love to help her teach the baby to sign. Would be fun to be able to webcam the baby signing for Daddy in Iraq, too! Then he could brag on how smart his baby is. 🙂

  8. I put your button on my blog and I am leaving a comment. Thanks for such a wonderful giveaway. I used Baby Signs for my youngest and it really helped us too.

  9. I submitted to Digg, Stumble Upon, Technoati, Facebook, Google bookmarks, Del.icio.us, and Reddit. I’m under ‘showpup’ on those social bookmarking services.

  10. I so want to do this! My husband and I have just been trying to learn ASL from a dvd, but it’s not geared towards baby. This would be wonderful. Thanks for hosting this!

  12. I have heard about this and that it works. I plan to try it with our baby who will be born in September (when the time is right, of course). These books would be great! I once took a signlanguage class at a Community Development thing. It was really cool–I love to watch people talk with it!

  13. Very nice, Monica.
I don’t need an entry to your give-away – Miss Maya talks quite enough as it is. Although signing would be quieter, wouldn’t it? hmmmm….
