Charles Caleb Colton said, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” If you have children you know this to be true. Of my seven children, my two youngest are girls. My threenager, who I refer to as Mini Me is enamored each time I put make up on. She imitates every move with make up brushes I don’t use. BUT she doesn’t have any of her own make up. No way in the world am I going to let her use actual make up. I can’t even trust her with crayons for crying out loud. Failing at finding pretend make up, I decided to make magic.

I didn’t have any empty or nearly empty make up containers. The local dollar store had plenty to choose from. I bought a compact, blush and eyeshadow with eight sections.

This is NOT a project to have your kiddo help you with. They will want to help, and won’t understand that it has to dry for a few DAYS and will bug you about it every five minutes. I locked myself in my bathroom, I used a butter knife to remove the powder. If you outline the edges with the knife, removing the power will be easier. Do your best to remove all of the powder, damp q-tips, and cotton balls work wonders.

NailPolish
Being a couponer and border line nail polish hoarder I went through my stash of polishes and selected fun colors for this project.

The make up containers need to be dry and have no make up left. Shake the nail polish extremely well, this can double as a stress relief exercise. Slowly pour the nail polish into the container. I say pour slowly because you don’t want that little ball inside that helps mix to fall out. Be generous when pouring, because when this dries it will shrink, so don’t skimp. As soon as you have finished filling the first container, set it in a well ventilated place. Ideally the garage, trust me on this, the fumes can and will knock you over. Pray the bugs stay out of it and let it dry for two or three days.

Once dry, present to your princess and have the camera ready. Enjoy.

About Rett-

RettAllow us to introduce you to the founder of Mommy Solutions LLC. Rett Schaefer-Orozco is a short, sassy, fun loving mom to six children and has resided in Onslow County for over twenty years. Your mouth is still gaping from the part about six kids, isn’t it?

From an early age, Rett has known that she would have children and looked forward to being a Mommy. However, there was never a specific number factored into the equation. Life simply happens.

Rett’s mother often said that Rett should be a cruise director when she grew up. This was largely due to the fact that she just loved to coordinate special events and occasions.

With her other passion being medicine, Rett Schaefer-Orozco graduated from East Carolina University’s Physician Assistant program in 2005. Following shortly thereafter, it was decided that she would be a stay at home mom to her then three young boys. While life continued and additions came along for the family, Rett found that in her spare time she was volunteering to a variety of causes. However, the one that seemingly drew her back time and time again involved assisting expectant and new mothers in preparing for their little bundle.

Throughout her pregnancy with her sixth child, Rett seemed to be a magnet for numerous other expectant moms. She often found herself giving the local families everything from baby gear recommendations, shower suggestions and ideas and organizational tips.

Ironically, Rett was noticing that all too often “Mommy problems” were repeated during various conversations with many mothers expressing their pregnancy or mommy related frustrations. It was an accumulation of all of these events which perpetuated the creation of Mommy Solutions.
