Recipe: Not Your Momma's Green Bean Casserole

In fact, this recipe isn’t for a casserole at all! But it does have green beans! It’s very inexpensive, it only takes ONE dish to cook it in, and it goes a long way! It even includes bacon.. How can you go wrong with that?

This green bean/bacon dish one of my absolute favorites from when I was a child. It’s easy to make for every day dinner as a side, or scale it up for a larger crowd! It’s something my daddy made for us a lot growing up, and it’s still my most favorite way to eat green beans. We make this dish for just about any holiday meal that we host at home, and have always received great feedback!

Everything you need can be found at your local Walmart store, and at great prices!

Here’s what you need:

  • Green Beans. Amount depends on how much you’re making. I make about 2 pounds worth for a party.
  • Bacon. One Pack, any flavor
  • 1 can of Corn

How you make it:

  • First, wash the green beans, and snap off any stems you find. Then snap the beans in half.
  • Slice the bacon into small bits and cook in a large fry pan.
  • Drain most of the bacon grease when the bacon is done cooking.
  • Add in the green beans and cook until they are just barely tender.
  • Add in the Spanish Corn Mix and cook until hot!
  • Pour into a bowl, or if you really want, a casserole dish, and serve!

Try it out and let me know what you think! If you use it for a holiday get together, I’d love to hear how your guests like it too! Let me know in the comments below!
