Back to School Routines– For Mom

Obviously, back to school means getting the kids up, ready, fed, lunches made, and kids off to school.. But what about mom? What happens when the kids are dropped off, or on the bus, and the house is quiet again? Sure, there’s lots of stuff that can be done around the house, and you can get to that… but first, you need to take care of YOU!

Summer has taken it’s toll on you. It sure did, me this year… Everyone talks about the hustle and bustle of school days, but wow, Summer was crazy busy for us this year, and I am really looking forward to the down time in between 8:10 AM and 3:20 PM. My goal is to really take care of ME! I want to try something new, do something I should have been doing all along, and continue something I know is good for me. What am I talking about? Let me explain.

BottleLet’s  start with continue something I know is good for me…. Drinking WATER. I have had a bad habit of not drinking enough water. I started really concentrated on drinking my eight 8oz glasses of water per day at the end of last school year. I didn’t leave home without my water bottle. I made it a point to track my water intake, and I was doing really well. I figured it was about time to reward myself with a newer and prettier water bottle. I chose the Bubba Insolated Isolee 22oz Water Bottle… in purple! It was in the camping section for $11.99, and I’m looking forward to sporting this water bottle everywhere I go. Must.Keep.Hydrated!

VitaminsThe something I should have been doing all along, is taking a multivitamin. I know it’s very important, and I am horrible at remembering to do so. My plan is to keep my multivitamins out where I can see them. I usually eat breakfast while the girls are eating theirs, and if I see my vitamins, I’m pretty sure I’ll remember to take them. I chose the One A Day Adult VitaCraves Gummies with Energy Support. One thing I can always use more of, is energy. These were $7.97 for 60 gummies. I like gummies, so they should be easy to remember. It’s all about changing my routine, and making this part of a new one this year!

PilatesWater, vitamins, and EXERCISE! Something I’ve always wanted to try is Pilates. I’ve never had the chance to try it out in a classroom setting, so why not try it out on my own? I do already exercise, but why not add a little more variety? I chose the Lotus Portable Pilates Studio to give it a try. It was only $18.97 and  it didn’t look too terribly difficult. This kit comes with the bar, bands, and an Exercise Chart so I can pretend I know what I’m doing! I’m sure I can look up some good videos online to help me out too!

So that’s it… We already know the kids are going to have to get back into a routine for getting ready for school… but now, Momma has to get into a routine too. After all, if Mom isn’t happy and healthy, then how can she make sure the kids are doing everything they need to be doing?

Come on Moms! It’s time to take care of yourself too!
